I think the Four Patch Ohio Star quilt block is one of my new favorite blocks to make, and I am so excited to share it with you. It’s block 7 of the Mystery Block of the Month 2026, and is made up of quarter square triangles and four patch blocks. It looks far more complicated than it actually is, but don’t worry, as usual I will be showing you how to make it step by step in my YouTube video tutorial.
If you’re joining us for the first time, welcome! You can catch up on all the details of the Block of the Month 2026 series HERE.
Sewing Along with the Mystery Block of the Month
Each month throughout 2026, I’ll be releasing a brand new quilt block as part of the Mystery Block of the Month. You won’t know what block is coming next until it’s revealed, which is part of the fun.
If you’d like to stay up to date, the best way is to join my newsletter HERE. I send out the video link, cutting instructions, and anything else you might need for that month’s block.
Scant Quarter-Inch Seam Allowance
The scant quarter-inch seam allowance is a quilter’s secret weapon for achieving precise block sizes. This seemingly minor adjustment makes a significant difference in quilting, where accuracy is paramount. By sewing just a few threads rather than a full quarter-inch, you compensate for the fabric taken up with the thread and seam, ensuring that your finished block dimensions are exactly as intended. Learn more about scant quarter-inch seam allowances HERE.

My Fabric, Thread & Sewing Machine
I’m using the gorgeous new fabric line, Lofi Linens by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Ruby Star Society for my quilt blocks. You can see the full range HERE. The expected ship date is August 2026.
My go-to thread is Konfetti by Wonderfil Specialty Threads, a 50wt Egyptian Cotton.
I’m sewing with Suzie, my Singer Featherweight sewing machine for this year’s Block of the Month. You can read all about her HERE!
