Below is a list of supplies that you will need for each of the projects we will be making over the eight weeks of the course.

I recommend using 100% quilting cotton for all of our projects because it is a structured fabric that is easy to cut and sew, and won’t misbehave like other fabrics can – making it the perfect beginner-friendly fabric.

TISSUE HOLDER

  • ¼ yard of fabric
  • Coordinating thread
  • A pack of Kleenex on the go tissues (I use these)

SCRUNCHIES

  • ⅛ yard of fabric
  • ¼” wide elastic (we need 8″ for each scrunchie, (this pack is good value)
  • Coordinating thread
  • Safety Pin

2 x DOUBLE SIDED PLACEMATS (DOUBLE THE FABRIC QUANTITY TO MAKE 4)

  • ½ yard of fabric for one side
  • ½ yard of fabric for the other side
  • Coordinating thread

PILLOWCASE

  • ¾ yard of fabric for body of pillowcase
  • ¼ yard of fabric for cuff
  • 2” width of fabric, if you are buying this separately you may need to buy 4.5” as a minimum requirement
  • Coordinating thread

PHONE PILLOW HOLDER

  • 12″ x 9″ fabric
  • 1½ cup of rice or wheat
  • Polyester fill (like this)
  • Coordinating thread

ZIPPER POUCH

  • 2 x 6.5” x 10½” fabric for outer
  • 2 x 6.5” x 10½” fabric for lining
  • Fabric for applique (optional)
  • 9” all purpose zipper
  • Coordinating thread

APPLIQUE

  • ¼ yard of fabric (we will use these on our Zipper Pouch and Tote Bag)
  • Iron-on double sided adhesive (I like this one)

TOTE BAG

  • ⅔ yard of fabric for outer
  • ⅔ yard of fabric for lining
  • Coordinating thread

SEWING MACHINE COVER

  • ¾ – 1 yard outer fabric (amount of fabric depends on if you have a small or large sewing machine)
  • ¾ – 1 yard lining
  • ¼ – ⅓ yard pockets for cover

  • The amount of fabric depends on if you have a small or large sewing machine. I consider small to be under 16″ in width.
