Variable Star Quilt Block

Variable Star Quilt Block

The fifth block of our Mystery Block of the Month 2024: the Variable Star Quilt Block. This block is a stunning, classic design that will add a touch of elegance to your quilt.

The scant quarter inch seam allowance is a quilter’s secret weapon for achieving precise block sizes. This seemingly minor adjustment makes a significant difference in quilting, where accuracy is paramount. By sewing just a few threads rather than a full quarter inch, you compensate for the fabric taken up with the thread and seam, ensuring that your finished block dimensions are exactly as intended. Find out more about scant quarter-inch seam allowances HERE.

For my quilt blocks, I’m using fabrics from two Ruby Star Society collections: Meadow Star by Alexia Marcelle Abegg and Rise and Shine! by Melody Miller.

For thread, I am using Konfetti by Wonderfil Specialty Threads, a 50wt Egyptian Cotton.

I am sewing with a Juki TL2010 Sewing Machine—it’s my pride and joy. You can check it out HERE.
