The Mystery Block of the Month is back with all new blocks for 2023!
The Mystery Block of the Month is a fun sew-along for beginner quilters that are wanting to improve their quilting skills and gain confidence in trying new blocks.
The mystery comes in with only knowing what quilt block we are making on the day of the reveal.
Over 10 months we will make 12 different quilt blocks.
Each month from January to October a new block will be revealed on the last Friday of that month.
There will be an extra block in March and September, so we finish in time for Christmas.
Once we have completed all 12 blocks, we will add sashing and borders and turn our blocks into a finished quilt top.
Each Mystery Block of the Month reveal includes a video with step-by-step instructions showing you exactly how to make your blocks, and a PDF Pattern.
Each block will measure 12½” x 12½” square, and once finished in the quilt 12″ x 12″
The finished quilt will measure approximately 51″ x 65″

I could hardly wait for the next mystery to come.
I enjoyed see them come together.
Thank you so much, Stacie.
Hi Stacey, I can’t wait to start the 2023 mystery block of the month.
Looking forward to another great year of mystery blocks.
Thanks so much for joining in Mary ❤️
If I start now will I get the old one that I may have missed
Hi Mary, yes you can, the two blocks that have been revealed are right here in this article, just scroll down a little and click on the pic of the block you would like to do.
Will the blocks be different than what we did in 2022?
Hi Cheryl, yes they will all be different this year ❤️
Yes 2023…I am in….cant wait;))
Awesome so glad you will be joining me again this year ❤️
The fabric requirements is confusing. Do we need both the yardage and the fat quarters?
Hi Lucy, sorry it’s confusing, you just need one, either yardage or fat quarters. I was just giving both options. Stacey 🙂
Thanks Stacey for the clarification. Looking forward to the 2023 BOM.
Somehow I stopped receiving emails from you. I’m trying to resubscribe. My request is returned that I am not eligible due to unsubscribe etc. please help
Hi Darrene, I just tried to resubscribe you, please check your email to see if you received anything ☺️
I loved the block of the month last year and I forward to this years challenge. I’ve learned so much from your tutorials. This year I hoops to gain more confidence.
Awesome Diana! I am glad you are joining me again this year! ☺️
Stacey I’ve tried everything but ETSY doesn’t show the $25 for Perks membership. Unless $42.58 is the cost in Australian dollars. In the cart/checkout it shows $42.58 select payment option.
Unfortunately I’ll have to join without perks.
Regards,
Gaila
I just went to purchase the Perks. In the top right corner you will see a circle with part of the Australian flag. If you tap that, you can set your preferred settings to your country and currency. I hope this is of some help.
Peggy
I would like to do this using Christmas fabrics. Any suggestions on how much light, medium, & dark fabric I might need? Thanks.
I love the mystery block of the month and you explain them perfectly for this beginner. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much, Phyllis! I really appreciate your kind feedback ☺️
Am I reading this right, if we don’t sign up for perks we do get a sheet to look at so we know what out cutting requirements are?
I signed up for the BOM and got this email but don’t know where to go to get the instructions.
Please help
Hi Louise, in your email on Friday all the details and links you need are in there. Including the link to the page below which has the cutting instructions ☺️

Hi, Stacey. I’m confused about what the number in () means in the FQ section of fabric requirements.
For example, the first FQ requirement has (2) 3 FQs. Does this mean I need five FQs?
Thank you, in advance, for your help.
Hi Linda, the number inside the bracket means how many different prints/fabrics you need. So if it says (2) 3 Fat Quarters you need two lots of three fat quarters, that would be a total of 6 fat quarters. Perhaps it’s easier to refer to the fabric by the yard to work out what it means. Because you are just buying the same amount of fabric but in FQs. I hope that makes sense.
Hi, me again. I haven’t participated in a MBOM before. Do I need seven FQs for each block?
Thank you for your patience and help.
Hi Linda, I think you might be referring to the numbers in the brackets. You need 6-7 different fabrics/prints for the blocks. If you were using just fat quarters, you would need a total of 12 FQs.
