For this project I used some fabric I have had for a while but didn’t want to use it – it’s too pretty! But I caved and I am so happy with my two coordinating Fabric Book Covers! All fabrics used were from the collection Kismet by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR FABRIC BOOK COVER

These instructions are to make a cover for a standard composition book. You can customize this pattern by measuring the width of the book (edge to edge including the spine), and the length (top to bottom) of the book, then add 1″ to each of these measurements.

For the Outer fabric you can make your piece however you want, for example, sewing 2½” strips together, quilting with batting, and then cut to 16″ x 11″.

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE A FABRIC BOOK COVER:

1 x 16″ x 11″ Outer fabric

1 x 16″ x 11″ Lining fabric

1 x 16″ x 11″ Piece of batting

2 x 7″ x 11″ Inside sleeves
