The Hugs and Kisses Baby Quilt is super quick and easy to make and perfect to donate – hint hint! It is quick to make because the pattern is super simple, plus we will be doing the Self Binding Technique, where we do the backing and binding for the quilt in one go.
I originally designed this quilt for my donation quilt drive for National Foster Care Month in May 2022, and I’m excited to continue this event in 2023. If you’d like to learn more about how you can donate a quilt to children in foster care click HERE.
This tutorial is free and everything you need to know to make the Hugs & Kisses Baby Quilt is listed here, including the link to my free YouTube tutorial.
The cute fabric that I will use for the Hugs and Kisses Baby Quilt was generously donated by Art Gallery Fabrics for National Foster Care Month, it is called Tails & Threads by Patty Basemi – thank you Art Gallery Fabrics!
The Hugs and Kisses Baby Quilt will measure approximately 34″ x34″.
TO MAKE THE HUGS AND KISSES BABY QUILT YOU WILL NEED
4 x Fat Quarters
1¼ yard of fabric for backing
36” x 36” piece of batting
With EACH of the Fat Quarters cut:
(4) x 18″ x 18”
Note: Fat Quarters should be 18″ x 21″ but some fall short, in this case, cut them all the smallest size you have i.e. 17½” x 17½”
Please watch my video for full instructions on how to make the Hugs & Kisses Baby Quilt:
Don’t forget to print out my PDF (found here) and write a note to Comfort Cases to help us keep track of how many quilts we have donated.
I can’t wait to make quilts with you to donate to children in foster care! Please leave a comment and let me know if you plan on joining me in making this quilt.
