There is no better project to get yourself organized in your sewing space than making a Sewing Machine Mat for all your tools that you like to have handy when sewing! Make one for yourself and then make one for your sewing friends!
This tutorial was suggested by several members, so I am super happy to finally have made it – I hope you like it!
Approximate finished size: 21″ x 19″

TO MAKE A SEWING MACHINE PAD YOU WILL NEED
Top Main Body Fabric: ⅔ yard width of fabric
Backing/Self Binding Fabric: ⅔ yard width of fabric
Fabric for pockets: A few small pieces of fabric if you want different fabric from main body and backing fabric
Batting: 8″ x 2½” + 21″ x 5″ + 21″ x 19″

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE A SEWING MACHINE MAT
SMALL POCKETS
3 Small Pockets: 3 x 3″ x 2½”
Backing Fabric: 8″ x 3½”
Batting: 8″ x 2½”
BIG POCKETS
3 Left Hand Pockets: 3 x 3″ x 5″
Middle Pocket: 6″ x 5″
Big Right Hand Pocket: 8″ x 5″
Backing Fabric: 21″ x 6″
Batting: 21″ x 5″
MAIN BODY
Top Fabric: 21″ x 19″
Backing Fabric: 22″ x 24″
Batting: 21″ x 19″
Don’t forget you can always make your Sewing Machine Mat bigger or smaller and change up the pockets, you don’t have to make it exactly like mine.
