Hi everyone, I would love for you to join me in making a quilt to donate to children in foster care for National Foster Care Month in May 2021. This is currently closed but we will be running another drive in 2022, details available soon.
I am so excited to announce that I have partnered with Comfort Cases, a national charity that provides packs to children in foster care.
My hope is that you will join me in making a quilt to donate to children in foster care and together we get as many quilts and blankets to Comfort Cases as we can!
Why not create a donation drive? By asking your friends to join in too! They could make a quilt, buy a blanket, donate fabric for you to make a quilt, or help cover the shipping costs to Comfort Cases.

Over 700 children enter the foster care system each day. Most are given a trash bag to carry their belongings. These children have been neglected and often feel like they don’t matter. Many do not own a toothbrush or have a pair of pajamas.
On April 23 & April 30 Quilt Club with Stacey Lee will feature two simple and quick quilts to make that will be perfect to donate. However, any new quilt or blanket will be gratefully accepted that is suitable for a child. You are not required to make the quilts from my YouTube channel.
I chose Comfort Cases because they are a national nonprofit that brings dignity and hope to children in foster care across all 50 states of the USA.
“I remember carrying a trash bag and feeling worthless, like nobody cared about me.” – Rob Scheer, Comfort Cases Founder
Comfort Cases ask that quilts for big kids measure 50″ x 60″ and baby quilts measure 30″ x 40″. If your quilts are a little outside these measurements that will be fine, but these are the ideal sizes if you can.

Comfort Cases offer $15 shipping labels for boxes up to 70 pounds to be sent via USPS or UPS. So no matter where you are in the USA you have an affordable way to get your quilts to them. Click here for details.
To celebrate everyone’s kindness and generosity I have organized a giveaway! Oliso and Anna Maria Horner have very kindly donated prizes to help celebrate everyone’s efforts in donating handmade Quilts for Foster Care Awareness Month. Click here for details.
A Comfort Case gives a child entering foster care a sense of dignity and hope. Each is packed with a quilt/blanket to snuggle under, a cozy new pair of pajamas, a stuffed animal to hug, a toothbrush, soap, and other personal care items. The gift of these simple items tells a child, you matter.

This is an awesome act of kindness. I just saw this today. It’s past the deadline. Is it a continual donation effort?
Hi Ingrid, thanks for visiting my blog. The deadline, was more for the giveaway for everyone to have a date to work towards. Comfort Cases accepts donations all year round. We will be doing another quilt donation drive again next year. Please feel free to join us 🙂
