In this post, I will take you through a step by step tutorial on how to upload SVG files to Cricut Design Space.
There are so many places you can find awesome SVG files for free or to purchase, most commonly on blogs, Pinterest and Etsy. SVG files will help you take your designs to the next level and the best thing about them is you can find something perfect for every project you have in mind.
WHAT IS A SVG FILE
SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphic with scalable being the keyword, SVGs allow you to make your files very large without losing any quality.
SVG files are the preferred file format for Cricut Design Space because they save everything as layers, which is a frequently used feature in Cricut.
LET’S UPLOAD YOUR SVG FILE
Don’t be intimidated by the idea of uploading an SVG to Cricut Design Space, that’s what this tutorial is for. So let’s go…
SVG files are often downloaded in a ZIP file, so the first thing to do is unzip the file. This is how you will see the SVG file.
Make sure you save your file somewhere that you will remember, I recommend creating a folder for all your SVG files.
Open Cricut Design Space

Click New Project

Click Upload

Click Upload Image

Click Browse
Find your file that you downloaded to your computer then | Click Open

Give your SVG image a name and add tags. Tags are useful to help you sort and filter through your images when you have a large collection. This step is not necessary but considered best practice.
Click Save

Now your image will appear in the “Recently uploaded images” gallery.
Click on Your Image
Click Insert

Ta-da! You did it! Congratulations you uploaded your first SVG file to Cricut Design Space.
Now it’s time to get making! Have fun and let me know if you found this tutorial helpful.
